Band 4 Qualified Dental Nurse

We are seeking highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic registered dental nurses to join our OMFS team, providing high standards of care to patients with complex needs. We welcome both experienced and newly qualified dental nurses from NHS or private practices. We are committed to personal development through training and support flexible working arrangements, which can be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
1. Prepare clinical areas, including instruments, materials, and equipment for surgical, orthodontic, or restorative procedures.
2. Work alongside Consultants, Specialty Doctors, and Dental Core Trainees during surgical procedures under local or general anesthesia, completing related training and competencies.
3. Support Consultants and clinicians in outpatient clinics, ensuring smooth patient assessments by identifying specific needs.
4. Provide verbal and written instructions to patients and relatives before and after oral surgeries.
5. Maintain good communication and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure planned treatments are completed.

Job responsibilities
1. Prepare clinical areas and instruments for procedures.
2. Assist during surgeries under local and general anesthesia, working with Consultants and trainees.
3. Assist orthodontists and restorative dentists, including dental implants.
4. Support outpatient clinics and patient assessments.
5. Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and relatives.
6. Prioritize and triage patients with special needs to ensure timely care.
7. Respond to medical emergencies following basic life support training.
8. Manage patients with complex medical histories.
9. Maintain communication with the team to ensure treatment plans are followed.
10. Ensure high standards of cleanliness and infection control in all areas.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by senior staff based on skill set and staffing needs.
12. Handle hazards and dangerous substances safely, complying with policies.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* National Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent
* GDC Registration
* IV Sedation Course
* Impression Course
Experience
* Experience in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, or Restorative Dentistry
* Hospital or community setting experience
Knowledge
* Knowledge of minor oral surgery
* Understanding of confidentiality
