About the role
We are seeking an undergraduate to join the Components engineering team at our factory in Wrexham. During a 12‑month placement starting in July, you will design, test, and support low and medium voltage cable accessories in a busy R&D environment.
Typical Tasks
* Help the team achieve product design, testing and manufacturing objectives.
* Use our 3D CAD system and rapid prototype equipment to develop designs.
* Manage prototype production with in‑house manufacturing or external suppliers.
* Conduct FEA analysis and prototype testing through the design process.
* Build and manage product type tests to British and international standards in our Wrexham laboratory and external test houses.
* Benchmark Prysmian and competitor products to identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
* Support product launches by creating production drawings, identifying manufacturing processes or suppliers, bills of materials and costing.
* Participate in project review meetings, including some with external customers.
Who We Are Looking For
* Undergraduate student in Mechanical, Electrical, Product Design Engineering or a related field.
* Strong practical skills in a workshop or testing laboratory.
* Excellent analytical skills for reviewing technical data.
* Proficient with MS Office; CAD skills required.
* Experience with Autodesk Inventor is advantageous.

Location & Transport
Due to the factory location, a full UK driving licence or own transport is advantageous.
