Overview

Water Quality Sampling Officer at a Water Utility Company based in the Yorkshire region of England.

Location and Working Type

Location: South Leeds, covering the Leeds, Wakefield, Normanton areas.

Working Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Once fully trained, you will be expected to participate in an operational standby rota, which involves out of hours working.


What We Do

Yorkshire Water serves over 5.4 million people in the region and many more visitors. We provide essential water and wastewater services, ensuring clean and safe drinking water and wastewater treatment. We aim to protect the environment and support the health, wellbeing, and prosperity of the region. You will help ensure compliance with Water Quality sampling regulations and maintain 100% compliance by carrying out Water Quality Sampling as dictated by the regulatory sampling programme and carry out investigational sampling as needed.


Responsibilities

* To comply with all the requirements of the WQ Sampling procedures, QMS and ISO17025 accreditation.
* Ensure sampling is conducted on water treatment works and distribution assets as per request or regulatory sampling programme; collect a range of water quality samples at different process stages for dispatch and analysis.
* Carrying out random customer sampling as part of the regulatory sampling programme.
* On site, help resolve customer issues as needed and report those that cannot be resolved immediately.
* Identify and report anything that may compromise compliance to the Regulatory Sampling Programme, such as observations that could threaten public health.
* Liaise with Water Quality Scientists, Production Engineers and Field Technicians regarding additional sampling or site issues.
* Report and mitigate Health & Safety and/or security issues.
* Comply with the company lone working policy.
* Operate and interrogate corporate systems such as Advantex, RTS, Odyssey and Lab Systems as required.
* Identify leadership behaviours required in your role and for your team using the Responsible Leader Framework.


Skills & Qualifications

* Develops and maintains effective internal relationships with a teamwork focus and customer relations.
* Basic IT skills in Office and email packages with willingness to learn.
* Experience of delivering excellent customer service and resolution of customer contacts.
* Understanding of potable water quality procedures.
* Experience of working in a procedural and regulated environment.
* Holds full valid driving licence and understands the challenges of occupational driving.
* Self-motivated and able to manage workload independently.
* Ability to work at heights and within enclosed spaces.
* Good sense of smell and taste for on-site testing.
* Basic understanding of water treatment operations and distribution systems.


You Will Also Benefit From Having

* Experience within the water or wastewater sectors or related utilities, process, or manufacturing industries.
* Proficient knowledge of corporate systems.
* Experience in a quality or sampling role.
* Understanding of Water Quality Regulations.
