As the Senior Specification Technologist Food Safety, you will manage the maintenance and sign-off of product specifications and associated documentation across all our stores, working collaboratively with various departments.
As Senior Specification Technologist – Food Safety, you will:
1. Have extensive working knowledge of Food Law, including allergen management, legal food & drink labelling requirements, and experience with future horizon scanning to detect potential Food Law changes.
2. Support the Senior Technical Manager - Supplier & Product to ensure effective implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management Policy.
3. Work closely with Food Buying to ensure new products and concessions launch on time in a safe and legal manner.
4. Champion accurate completion of Foodhalls & Restaurants product specifications sold in Selfridges prior to launch, in line with Selfridges policies, procedures, and ethical trading requirements.
5. Manage the ongoing review and development of supplier assurance and product specification procedures.
6. Liaise with suppliers, Buyers, and Restaurants Operations to resolve queries related to product specifications.
7. Maintain effective communication by leading Concept to Launch meetings with Food B&M and communicating specification approval statistics.
8. Ensure the specification system is effectively managed so correct product information is transferred to other departments, including Online, Copy teams, Ticketing Teams, and Food B&M.
9. Support the Food Safety team with conducting Foodhalls hygiene inspections, delivering training materials and briefing notes, and investigating food complaints with suppliers.
10. Contribute to building a sustainable and circular future by ensuring a robust supplier assurance and product approval process to deliver compliant and innovative ranges.
How you’ll do it… you will be:

* Possess a sound understanding of food labelling legislation and associated regulations.
* Have sound knowledge of allergen awareness and food composition.
* An effective communicator, both verbal and written, with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work well in a team.
* A project manager capable of delivering to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
* Analytical and results-driven, with the ability to use data for problem-solving.
* Flexible and adaptable to change.
* Active member of industry working groups (e.g., IFST, FDF, FSA, Campden BRI).
* Hold a Degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
* Possess a Level 2 HACCP qualification at minimum.
