AWE is currently recruiting for a Security Director reporting directly into the Executive.

This high profile role will take accountability for the strategic vision for Security, enterprise wide, and to provide direction for the security aspects of AWE's business plan & its operations.

Bringing together all the aspects of security, you will ensure effective Physical, Personnel and Cyber Security strategies are developed and implemented across the Enterprise.

As the Security Director, you will be part of the senior leadership team within the SHEQ (Safety, Security, Sustainability, Health, Environment & Quality) function and be responsible for developing the strategy, policy and standards.

Working collaboratively with the business, a critical element will be to ensure deployment and adoption of these policies & standards to achieve business requirements whilst assuring business, customer and regulatory requirements are met.

As well as setting the strategy, you will be accountable for the key performance metric management for Security reporting to the Executive and AWE Plc Board.

The role will interface across AWE and you will drive organisational performance against targets, ensuring multiple stakeholder compliance is met and that the leadership team is engaged.

As the Tier 2 owner, you are accountable for ensuring that the Defence Security Conditions are met. This will involve liaising and co-ordinating with security authorities including Ministry of Defence Police (MDP), the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO), the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the UK Security & Vetting provider (UKSV).

The Security Director will identify, develop, implement and maintain security processes, practices, and policies throughout AWE to reduce risks, respond to incidents and limit exposure. They will provide leadership and direction to staff working in security fields and ensure non-security staff have access to clear, helpful guidance.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in the following:

* A nationally recognised senior practitioner level certification from a security authority
* A strategic leader, experienced in establishing and growing a dedicated environment and sustainability team
* Experience in Policy development and approaches to risk in an operational environment
* Managing security events and incidents
* Previous experience at a senior level of managing security within a complex environment.
* Tier 2 lead across the business for all Security activities and the primary interface with Defence Security Regulators

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke
