About Us
Bristol City Council’s Children Residential Service is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, providing therapeutic care experiences for children with complex needs. This would be a good opportunity for someone to experience a leadership role within a children’s home.
At Bristol City Council, we’ve redefined our approach to children’s residential care. By transitioning to smaller homes for 2 to 3 children, we provide personalised care that better matches placements and creates a homely environment where children feel safe, loved, and nurtured. Our trauma‑informed approach ensures we understand and cater to each child’s unique needs, empowering them to thrive.
We serve children up to 18 years old with complex needs, including SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
Who are we looking for?

Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager by supervising staff and contributing to the management team.
* Provide a therapeutic care experience within smaller children’s homes.
* Work with children up to 18 years old with complex needs, including SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
* Work rota‑based shifts, including nights, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Additional pay for shift work, sleep‑in duties, and banking holidays.

Please note that the role requires applicants to have the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent. This includes NVQ 3 Health and Social and Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce diploma.
