Established in Nether Johnstone House is a semi-rural community-based house designed to support young people with a range of complex needs. Offering care, support and opportunities for children and young people aged 8-21 years, who are looked after away from their families.
With a team equipped with the knowledge and skills to support children and young people who have experienced trauma, Nether Johnstone House offers an environment where our children and young people can begin to heal, grow and set goals for their futures.
Using a social pedagogical approach to care, the team work collaboratively and creatively with young people, their families, carers, local authority and other relevant professionals.

About the Role
A Senior Residential Child Care Worker must be is someone who has a strong commitment to caring for children/ young people, who understand developmental trauma, and who is resilient, reflective and compassionate. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of trauma and the impact of this on others and be competent to practice in a trauma responsive way. You will be able to provide children/ young people with a sense of safety and connectedness and teach coping skills in the face of complex challenging behaviour.
Following social pedagogical principles, our children/ young people need opportunities to problem solve and experiment with taking risks to challenge themselves physically and mentally. We recognise the powerful healing and developmental role of activity in children and young people lives. We are looking for an individual who is willing to be creative and fully involved in identifying and organising a wide range of opportunities for our children and young people to help them grow and develop aspirations for their future.
