Role Overview
RC Fornax is seeking an experienced PCB CAD Designer to support our customer in Romsey. The successful candidate will be responsible for PCB layout, component placement, and routing for RF and high-speed digital boards using Altium Designer, ensuring compliance with PCB CAD design guidelines and IPC standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform PCB CAD design activities including:
* Electronic schematic capture
* Component library creation (symbols, footprints)
* Mixed technology design (SMT, PTH)
* Routing for RF and high-speed digital boards (e.g., mmWave)
* Multi-layer PCB design with blind vias and microvias
* Design for manufacturing and testability
* Impedance-controlled routing for high-speed signals
* Power distribution design (current capacity, spacing)
* Copper balancing to prevent bow and twist
* Layup definition and preparation of manufacturing data
* Support design engineers in material selection (substrates, copper)
* Ensure compliance with IPC standards up to Class 3
Required Skills & Experience
* 5+ years of PCB CAD design experience using Altium Designer
* Proven expertise in:
* RF and high-speed digital board design
* Multi-layer PCB design
* IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610 Class 3, IPC-2221)
* Design verification (impedance, capacitance, spacing)
* Manufacturing and testability considerations
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Ability to work onsite in Romsey up to 5 days/week
