Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and supportive organisation? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Finance Manager to join our Finance and Property Service, reporting to the Service Lead - Management Accounting. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a diverse range of services and work alongside key stakeholders to drive organisational success.

About The Role

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:


* Leading a team of finance professionals to deliver high-quality financial management and business partnering services
* Ensuring accurate and timely production of management information, including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
* Providing expert financial advice and guidance to service managers and senior leaders
* Contributing to the year-end closure of accounts process, including supporting the preparation of relevant notes and disclosures
* Monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure against budgets
* Identifying and advising on financial risks and opportunities
* Supporting the Service Lead with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects

About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

* Qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in a finance role
* Experience of managing and leading a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
* Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with non-finance colleagues
* Excellent technical accounting skills, including knowledge of public sector accounting standards
* Proficient in financial systems and software, with advanced Excel skills
* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights
* Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to present financial information to a range of audiences
* Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
