Purpose of Role
To support vulnerable adults living in Supported Exempt Accommodation by providing weekly support sessions, initial sign-ups, welfare checks, Housing Benefit assistance, risk management, and tenancy sustainment.
The role ensures tenants maintain their accommodation, access Housing Benefit, manage risks, improve wellbeing, and work towards independence.
Support Workers deliver structured weekly support sessions, conduct welfare checks, assist with Housing Benefit claims, liaise with councils and partner RSLs, ensure compliance, maintain documentation, and uphold safeguarding standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities
1. Tenant Sign-Up & Induction
• Complete tenant sign-ups, ID verification, and property inductions.
• Carry out Initial Needs and Risk Assessments.
• Upload all documents to shared drives or case management systems.
1. Support Delivery
• Provide 1 in-person support session per week per tenant.
• Carry out 2 weekly welfare calls per tenant (or as required).
• Create and maintain Support Plans, Risk Assessments, and Support Notes.
• Complete monthly Support Plan reviews and update risk assessments when needed.
1. Tenancy Sustainment
• Support tenants with behaviour, budgeting, routines, appointments, and life skills.
• Address antisocial behaviour or tenancy breaches promptly and appropriately.
• Promote independence, wellbeing, and healthy living.
1. Housing Benefit & Administration
• Assist tenants with Housing Benefit claims, submitting evidence and liaising with councils.
• Maintain accurate documentation (support notes, assessments, HB evidence).
• Record all work within 24 hours and keep files audit-ready.
1. Safeguarding & Risk Management
• Identify, record, and escalate safeguarding concerns immediately.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain clear, accurate incident records.

Desirable Candidate
• Experience supporting vulnerable adults (e.g., homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, offending, trauma).
• Ability to produce Support Plans, Risk Assessments, and case notes.
• Understanding of Housing Benefit processes and supported accommodation.
• Strong communication, de-escalation, and boundary-keeping skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage a caseload independently.
• Experience working with RSLs or local authority housing services.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Health & Social Care, Housing, Safeguarding).
• Experience using case management or supported-housing systems.
