Company Overview: Established in 1997, Taiko is the UK's first sushi manufacturer for the supermarket industry, known for innovation in Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals, and Snacking products, supplying major retailers like Waitrose, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s.
Role Overview: As the Production Shift Manager, you will lead a team of 5-6 supervisors, working alongside an equivalent manager on the opposite shift to meet daily production targets, ensuring efficiency, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop a team of supervisors to achieve production goals.
* Develop and monitor production schedules, optimize labour use, and coordinate operator activities.
* Promote continuous improvement initiatives and ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards.
* Record and manage equipment and building damages accurately.
* Participate in health and safety meetings and staff briefings.
* Oversee accident and near-miss reporting, ensuring proper documentation and evidence gathering.
* Ensure adherence to health & safety practices, including PPE use.
* Manage risk assessments for line layout or configuration changes.
* Monitor KPIs using LEAN tools to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
* Maintain product quality, safety, and hygiene standards.
* Coordinate with scheduling teams to align production plans.
* Lead, motivate, and evaluate shift team members, ensuring standards are met.
* Make key decisions on the shop floor, demonstrating best practices.
* Support team development through coaching, training, and performance management.
Minimum Requirements:
* Proven experience in production management or supervisory roles in manufacturing.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Experience with LEAN tools and performance metrics.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
