Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Substance Misuse / Mental Health Nurse on behalf of our client within a Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service in County Durham. This is a full?time community-based role supporting individuals with substance misuse, mental health conditions, and complex social needs.
Role OverviewThe post holder will:
Autonomously manage a caseload of clients with dual diagnosis and complex needs.
Work predominantly within the community, including outreach and rough sleeper services.
Deliver comprehensive assessments, harm reduction interventions, and health promotion.
Act on referrals from internal teams and external partner organisations.
Lead on dual diagnosis provision within the County Durham service.
Contribute to clinical governance, quality monitoring, and best?practice implementation.
Provide clinical supervision and support continuous professional development within the team.Essential Criteria
Qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
Awareness of the social context of substance misuse.
Experience of working with substance misusing clients.
Experience assessing clients and prescribing safely and effectively within best practice.
Experience carrying out general healthcare assessments and delivering harm reduction advice.
Up?to?date knowledge of prescribing guidelines.
Understanding of recovery?oriented substance misuse treatment within primary care.
Ability to act as a service user advocate.
