SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) – Start September 2025 (Early Start Option Available)
Protocol Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a male pupil entering Year 3 in September 2025. This full-time role focuses on assisting a child with mobility challenges, non-verbal communication, and personal care needs, including intimate care. An early start before the summer term is available to facilitate a smooth transition and relationship-building with the pupil and school community.
About The Role:
* Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day, addressing both academic and personal care needs.
* Assist with mobility, ensuring the pupil's safety and comfort within the school environment.
* Implement communication strategies tailored to non-verbal learners, in collaboration with the school's SENCO and external specialists.
* Maintain the pupil's dignity and well-being during all activities, including intimate care routines.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support the pupil's holistic development.
About You:
* Experience supporting children with physical disabilities, non-verbal communication, and personal care requirements.
* Training in manual handling, Makaton, PECS, or similar communication methods (desirable).
* Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
