Overview

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to administer medications accurately. Experience in a GMS setting is highly desirable.

This is a fixed term position, covering maternity leave, commencing February 2026. There may be the opportunity for a permanent role for the right candidate.


Qualifications

* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* A strong background in patient care is essential.
* Proficient in medication administration techniques.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient interaction.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.


Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

* Provide patient counselling on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimise patient care and medication management.
* Conduct medication reviews and monitor patient outcomes to ensure efficacy and safety.
* Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and patient information in compliance with regulations.
* Educate patients and healthcare staff on new medications and treatment protocols.
* Participate in quality assurance activities to improve pharmacy services.
* Stay updated on advancements in pharmacotherapy and relevant clinical guidelines.
* Oversee pharmacy students.

Job responsibilities

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly and supportive team at Brynteg Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a forward-thinking practice that values collaboration, innovation, and professional development.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting medicines optimisation, conducting structured medication reviews, and working closely with our GPs, nurses, and wider healthcare team.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience working as a pharmacist in primary care, community, or hospital settings
* Evidence of effective medicines optimisation and clinical decision-making
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Previous experience working in a GP practice or primary care network
* Experience of using EMIS or similar clinical systems
* Involvement in service development, audits, or quality improvement projects


Qualifications

* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Independent Prescriber qualification (or working towards)
* Additional training or postgraduate qualifications relevant to primary care
