About The Job
As a Trade Apprentice in our Repairs and Maintenance team, you will support and learn key skills within a specific trade. The specific trade placement will be discussed and confirmed later based on your interests and aptitude.
You will deliver quality repair and maintenance services that benefit residents, helping maintain safe, sustainable homes and neighborhoods. We are committed to developing future talent through apprenticeships.
About The Training
You will complete a Trade Apprenticeship Standard relevant to your final placement, such as:
* Property Maintenance Operative
* Plumbing and/or Domestic Heating Technician
* Carpentry and Joinery
* Plastering
* Painting and Decorating
The exact trade will be determined later during recruitment.
The Apprenticeship
* A two-year fixed-term contract
* Earn the London Living Wage during training
* Formal training with a recognised provider
* A dedicated line manager and mentor
* Part of a wider apprentice cohort
* Support to improve CV and interview skills
* Additional development opportunities
* 21 days’ annual leave plus 3 days over the festive period
* 8 public holidays per year
* 37-hour work week
* Health and safety training and PPE provided
About You
You must be a Newham resident with a desire to make a difference in the community and a commitment to developing your skills. You should demonstrate:
* GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work well in a team and use initiative
* Commitment to high-quality service and awareness of local issues
* Organisational skills and focus on targets
* Reliability and punctuality
* A commitment to completing the apprenticeship program
* Basic work experience
Responsibilities
* Attending and participating in classes and workshops
* Learning and demonstrating practical skills
* Completing tests and assignments
* Observing policies and procedures
* Delivering presentations
* Being well-organised, flexible, and helpful
