We are looking for a clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties to join Tower Hamlets CAMHS. The service is located in a socially and ethnically diverse borough; it includes professionals from psychiatry, nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and family therapy, and is committed to quality improvement and ongoing development.

Role: Clinical Psychologist in the Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT) at Tower Hamlets CAMHS. Location: Tower Hamlets CAMHS, 18 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF. Working pattern: Part-time. Band: 8a. Responsibilities
The post holder will provide evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments to young people with moderate to severe learning disability within a community-based setting. They will contribute clinical psychology expertise to the team, participate in and help develop a broad range of evidence-based interventions (including an established group programme addressing behaviour, sleep, and a neuroaffirmative group for young people with a recent ASC diagnosis), Positive Behaviour Support, ASC assessment clinic, consultation to CAMHS colleagues and schools, and direct work with children and their families.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and Registration with HCPC
* Experience of working in CAMHS and/or experience in Adult Services for Autism/ Learning Disability with transferable skills
* Experience of specialist assessments and treatments for LD/ ASD and behaviours that challenge
* Experience of risk assessment and risk management
* Experience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisis
* Experience of working with complex networks
* Experience of outcome measures
* Knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues and serious mental health problems, including challenging behaviour
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and with interpreters
Desirable
* Experience of group work
* Experience of quality improvement and innovative projects
* Supervision training and/or experience of supervising others
* Project management or service development
Knowledge and Skills
* Specialist clinical skills in Positive Behaviour Support and behavioural/functional analysis
* Highly specialist clinical knowledge for children/young people with moderate to severe learning disability
* Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
* Strong multi-tasking, prioritisation and flexible working abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication for diverse audiences
* Ability to work across organisational boundaries and to supervise/contribute to skill development in others
* Self-awareness and openness to feedback
* Knowledge of current guidelines and developments in evidence-based assessments and interventions for children and young people with mental health problems/disorders
* Commitment to continuing professional development
