With a £1.5 billion programme underway, we are expanding our team to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. 3. Managing budgets and spill‑reduction targets within your area
4. Working with internal teams and external partners to deliver schemes, including on assets not owned by Southern Water
5. Reviewing rainfall, pump station and monitoring data to assess performance
6. Preparing business cases, forecasting budgets, and reporting outcomes
7. Attending monthly community meetings to share updates and build trust
8. Engaging with customers and stakeholders to support stormwater management
9. Leading health and safety responsibilities across all delivery activities
10. Promoting sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS) on private property

Additional requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential

11. Strong technical understanding of wastewater and sewer systems
12. Ability to explain complex information in simple, clear language
13. Experience managing contractors and cross‑functional teams
14. Skills in risk management, governance, and health and safety leadership
15. Ability to work with incomplete datasets and drive innovation
16. BTEC/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience

Desirable

17. Experience working in a regulated environment
18. Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)

Progression opportunities

This role offers opportunities to progress into senior engineering, programme delivery, or specialist environmental roles as the Clean Rivers and Seas programme grows.
