Main duties of the job
An integral part of the team, the successful candidate will provide medical secretarial and administrative services to the clinical team by:
1. Facilitating effective communication between patients, members of the practice team, secondary care, and other healthcare agencies.
2. Providing general assistance to the practice team and projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors, either in person or via telephone.
3. This role is varied; priorities can change daily. You should be enthusiastic, adaptable, solutions-minded, with a strong aptitude for technology and customer service.
4. Undertaking administrative duties to support the smooth running of the practice, including secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and team members.
5. Successful candidates must be able to work on a Monday.

Job responsibilities
Your responsibilities
* Handle a wide range of patient enquiries via telephone, face-to-face, and online, directing patients to appropriate healthcare professionals promptly.
* Maintain understanding of key care pathways and processes to ensure patients receive necessary care.
* Communicate proactively with colleagues about protocol changes and patient updates, ensuring patients receive current guidance.
* Be familiar with daily clinical rota and advise patients accordingly.
* Serve as a first point of contact internally and externally, signposting effectively.
* Record patient communications accurately in relevant systems, complying with practice procedures.
Administrative duties
* Manage referrals to secondary care and private providers.
* Handle worklist management on electronic referral systems.
* Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including posting duties.
* Monitor and act on team tasks and emails collaboratively.
* Handle insurance reports, medicals, and payments for private work.
* Manage patient information requests in compliance with GDPR.
Practice support
* Keep the non-clinical workspace tidy and organized.
* Provide general administrative support as needed.
You should have or be:

It would be an advantage if you also:
* Have previous experience working in Primary Care.
