About the team
The European Financial Control team is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting and accounting of the firm’s expenses, Legal Entity Control sign-off, intercompany, and cash reconciliations within the European entities. The team currently consists of 4 people in London and 2 in India.
Job Title: Assistant Vice President (Contract – 6 months)
Key Responsibilities
* Manage various corporate functions including legal entity control for certain European entities, including the preparation of financial statements.
* Assist in expense monitoring processes for brokerage and clearing expenses, liaising with Front Office, Back Office, Accounts Payable, and overseas accountants to ensure proper tracking and reporting.
* Post journals to the ledger as required to complete month-end processes.
* Substantiate and analyze owned balance sheet accounts.
* Assist in preparing management packs for senior management.
* Interface with internal and external auditors.
* Address ad-hoc financial control queries from stakeholders, providing timely and accurate responses (Front Office/Product Control/Treasury/Operations).
* Review and develop existing processes to improve efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
Person Specification
The following skills and experience are required for this role:
* Legal entity control experience.
* Experience in financial services is an advantage.
* Detail-oriented and accurate approach, with a commitment to high standards.
* Proficiency in Excel is essential.
* Experience with PeopleSoft is an advantage but not essential.
* Good knowledge of UK GAAP and US GAAP is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
* Experience working in a time-pressured environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Team-oriented attitude, willing to collaborate and support colleagues.
