Mechanical Facilities Engineer - Port Glasgow £45,000 - £55,000 + Bonus MRD Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading global manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Facilities Engineer. This is a permanent, site-based role located in Port Glasgow, reporting to the Site Engineering Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving critical mechanical infrastructure and services across a complex manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities for Mechanical Facilities Engineer: Support day-to-day operation and reliability of a wide range of mechanical building services, including ventilation, air conditioning, steam, compressed air, and pumped water systemsOversee plant condition assessments and propose technical solutions to improve or replace systemsManage and contribute to small-to-medium installation, upgrade, and commissioning projectsInterpret and maintain engineering drawings, technical documentation, and specificationsAssist in the ongoing upkeep of site schematics and layout drawings, ideally using AutoCADEnsure mechanical systems comply with relevant HSE standards, legislation, and best practicesWork closely with internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver reliable support servicesIdentify and support opportunities for energy saving and optimisation across site systems Essential Skills & Experience: Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services EngineeringWorking knowledge of systems such as HVAC, ventilation/extract systems, compressed air, and steamComfortable reading and understanding technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manualsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and work both independently and in a teamComputer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft OfficeSome knowledge of AutoCAD is highly desirable Desirable (but not essential): Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environmentAwareness of relevant legislationUnderstanding of building management systemsFamiliarity with energy monitoring techniques and sustainable engineering practicesExperience writing scopes of work, reviewing contractor bids, and managing external suppliers Why Apply?
