As a Trade Finance - Operations Manager - Vice President in Operations you will support and be the back-up for the regional operations lead in Europe Middle East and Africa. You will be responsible for matrix management of the regional operations team across a large number of different countries and locations. You will be responsible for oversight of all staff in support of Trade and Working Capital operations in branches (Madrid, Frankfurt, Riyadh, Johannesburg) and Service Delivery Windows (Lagos, Cairo, Istanbul, Dubai). You will build and maintain relationships with key operational management partners in India and Manilla. You will engage and build strong partnership with internal groups where we have dependency (credit, risk, ref data, KYC), to deliver service excellence.
Job responsibilities
1. Partners with the sales and service teams to deliver operational support to clients; Handhold transactions through the lifecycle to meet bespoke client requirements
2. Ensures a smooth workflow, coordinate with internal partners, and expedites urgent or complex transactions
3. Maintains a client focused approach, engages team members in best practices, exercising sound judgment, based upon knowledge and experience, at all times
4. Drives the people agenda in the region with focus on manager excellence and Diversity and Inclusion activities; helps to build an inclusive culture
5. Monitors quantity and quality of work to meet established objectives
6. Reviews and recommends new methods and procedures for process improvement and efficiency
7. Takes ownership for operational issues and leads through to resolution
8. Maintains a controlled and compliant operating environment through partnership with regulatory and control teams
9. Ensures that all transactions are processed in accordance with documented SOPs and comply with internal operating standards, with Customer Service Levels and with Industry Rules and Standards
10. Maintains oversight for timely execution of projects and initiatives in Operations
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
11. The role requires progressive leadership with ability to communicate at all levels
12. Ability to influence at different levels without formal reporting lines
13. Experience of managing managers; previous experience of managing people / operation and client
14. Experience of managing in a complex regulatory environment essential
15. Ability to analyse complex procedures and established processes for process improvement
16. Self-motivated confident decision-maker with the ability to demonstrate leadership and establish credibility at a senior level
17. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to appropriately engage and influence change at all levels
18. Able to effectively prioritise against a complex set of business demands and demonstrate delivery against multiple objectives
19. Drive for innovation through transformation of process and user tools
20. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise appropriately, meet deadlines and balance multiple demands simultaneously
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
21. Strong working knowledge of the guidelines for processing Trade Finance products
22. CDCS certification
