Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for: * Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc. * Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices * To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements * Assisting in plant developments and projects * Supervising and setting to work on site contractors * Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) * Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination * To ensure the availability of plant spares Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: * Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering * A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has: * Hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including, boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes etc * Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. * Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity Salary and benefits of the Mechanical Technician role * A basic salary between �46,000 - �48,000 * Call out allowance of �2,500 per annum * Bonus * Overtime * Private healthcare * Other benefits Astute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
