We are looking for a highly motivated and hardworking individual to work as a Trainee Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist. We are committed to training and development of our staff, and qualified respiratory and sleep physiologists will mentor you to perform and report routine lung function testing and pass ARTP qualifications.
Responsibilities
* Perform routine respiratory diagnostic tests to nationally recognised standards: Spirometry (± bronchodilator response), Gas Transfer, Static Lung Volumes;
* Perform FeNO testing and spot‑check pulse oximetry;
* Perform haemoglobin POCT testing;
* Set up routine sleep studies;
* Support the Lead and Deputy Lead Respiratory and Sleep Clinical Scientist with administrative tasks such as clinical audits, data collection (attendance, DNA, utilisation), minute taking from sleep and MDT meetings, stock ordering, rota checks, and support for the Physiology QA lead with IQIPS accreditation activities;
* Ensure all equipment is maintained in full working order with appropriate quality control;
* Accurately record patient information and maintain test records, organise inpatient and last‑minute outpatient booking requests, and communicate results to relevant specialities;
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies on infection control, risk management, data protection and Health & Safety.
Qualifications & Experience
• Qualified respiratory and sleep physiologist; or equivalent with willingness to complete ARTP training.
Working Conditions
• Part‑time (seniority level: Internship)
• Primary site: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, with occasional work at Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester) and Andover War Memorial Hospital.
