Overview
You will be working within the Labour ward (Ward 26 and Ward 24). You will undertake a range of duties in the Maternity setting under the supervision of a Registered Midwife. Your working week covers a 7 day service, 24 hours, 365 days a year. Shifts are 10 or 12 hours (days and nights) with some weekends and bank holidays. Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support and training to meet expected competencies.
Role and Responsibilities
* Maternity support workers (MSWs) are an integral part of the maternity workforce and support midwives and the wider maternity teams, mothers and their babies through pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period.
* Deliver Public Health advice after appropriate training.
* Carry out delegated tasks by the Midwife in charge, including running errands, admin support, and transporting samples.
* General cleaning of clinical areas as clinics are in progress.
* Escalate concerns to the Midwife in charge.

* Essential to be computer literate to use Trust systems for documentation.
* Selection is based on Trust values and the criteria outlined in the Job Description for the role.

* Appointments are subject to a 6-month probationary period. LED Doctors are subject to a 3-month probationary period.

* You may be required to pay for your DBS disclosure (where the post requires one). This will be done via 3 monthly installments from your pay. We encourage applicants to join and remain registered with the DBS update service.
