Receptionist/General Secretary (Part Time)
The McDonald Institute and the Department of Archaeology are seeking a friendly, reliable and efficient receptionist for a job share. The post holder will be based in the McDonald Institute and will also serve as the first point of contact for the Department of Archaeology.
Reception duties include welcoming and directing a wide variety of callers to a complex site, answering the telephone, dealing with mail and parcels, and maintaining notice boards. Other duties include assisting with purchasing, arranging courier collections, assisting with event organisation and delivery, conducting building safety tours for new starters, maintaining office equipment (photocopiers and franking machine), making room bookings, and other duties appropriate to the grade of post and essential for the smooth running of both institutions.
Applicants should have excellent people and communication skills, knowledge of web-based administrative systems including online meeting platforms (for example Teams) or a willingness to acquire them, and at least 5 GCSEs. Good spoken and written English is essential. Previous experience of reception work and knowledge of University administrative systems and procedures are highly desirable.
This role is part time and a job share with an existing receptionist who works all day Monday to Wednesday. Applicants must be comfortable with a job share arrangement and be good communicators.
