Electrician / Instrumentation Engineer Plympton, Devon Monday to Friday | 7:30am - 3:30pm Start: ASAP We're recruiting for an experienced Electrician / Instrumentation Engineer to join the engineering team at a well-established industrial processing site in Plympton. This role is key to maintaining the performance and reliability of plant equipment, covering electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, and combustion controls. Working within a kaolin calcination plant, you'll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance to keep equipment running safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: Electrical, ICA, PLC & combustion maintenance and fault-finding Diagnose, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and control systems Support and lead plant improvement and optimisation projects Use CMMS for work order management and materials sourcing Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and HSE legislation Collaborate with the wider engineering and operations teams Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free working environment ✅ What We're Looking For: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (Apprenticeship trained or equivalent) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Strong background in industrial maintenance Experience with PLCs, variable speed drives, and combustion systems Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation Full UK driving licence required Desirable Experience: Pneumatics, hydraulics, or mechanical systems Welding, pumps, burners, mills, or chemical process knowledge Familiarity with 5S, RCA, and KPI systems This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable, forward-thinking business in a hands-on role with plenty of variety and responsibility.
