Role Title: Azure Cloud Security Engineer
Contract: 6 months initially

Role Overview
Azure Cloud Security Engineers will work as part of a global Azure Cloud Services function, responsible for building secure, resilient, scalable, reusable, and high‑performance Azure infrastructure using automated and efficient approaches.
Reporting to a Cloud Security & Compliance Lead, the role works closely with Cloud Services, Cyber Security, and strategic technology partners to ensure delivery of secure‑by‑design functional patterns that meet mandatory security policies and compliance standards within a regulated environment.
Key Accountabilities
Responsibilities include:
1. Building and managing security controls across the Azure platform to enable secure deployments
2. Engineering Azure solutions using Infrastructure‑as‑Code approaches ( Terraform)
3. Ensuring compliance with operational risk standards (networking, firewalls, operating systems, logging, monitoring, availability, and resiliency)
4. Executing the functional pattern lifecycle (design, document, develop, maintain) across shared code libraries
5. Integrating, configuring, deploying, and managing centrally provided cloud services (IAM, networking, monitoring, operating systems, containers)
6. Building and supporting CI/CD and continuous testing pipelines for security and compliance workloads
7. Engineering and implementing compliance monitoring solutions
8. Maintaining and updating security support and operational documentation
9. Continuously developing technical expertise and sharing knowledge within the engineering community
10. Gathering requirements and maintaining feedback loops between Cyber Security and Cloud Services teams
11. Providing day‑to‑day security troubleshooting and support for Azure tenants and infrastructure
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
12. Experience engineering and deploying a broad range of Azure services
13. Proven Experience creating, assigning, and managing Azure Policies, scripts, and controls to enforce security compliance
14. Experience operating in multi‑tenant security and compliance environments
15. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub
16. Practical Experience with cloud security, IAM, compliance, auditing, and monitoring tools
17. Hands‑on Experience with Defender for Cloud
18. Ability to deliver solutions aligned to approved design patterns and security standards
19. Strong technical skills across Azure Policy, Azure DevOps, ARM, PowerShell, Terraform
20. Deep understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices
21. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, working with application teams and cross‑functional IT groups
22. Collaborative mindset, working effectively in Agile / DevOps delivery environments
23. Demonstrated risk management Experience
24. Experience coordinating with multiple support and delivery teams
25. A continuous‑improvement mindset with the ability to successfully implement change
26. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex topics clearly
Essential Skills
27. Demonstrable Azure security engineering Experience, including Azure Policy (JSON)
28. Strong Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics (KQL), and Sentinel
29. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines across multiple technology stacks
30. Ability to interpret security baselines and implement controls using Azure Policy, RBAC, Defender, and Monitor
31. Broad technical knowledge across Azure services (Identity, Networking, Compute, Storage, Containers, Databases)
32. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
33. Experience working in Agile delivery teams
34. Ability to rapidly learn new tools and technologies
Desirable Skills
35. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks ( ISO 27001, NIST, PCI‑DSS)
36. Industry‑recognised cloud security certifications
37. Programming Experience ( Python, Bash, Rego)
38. Experience working in highly regulated industries
