We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Private Client Solicitor to join a forward-thinking and reputable law firm. This is a permanent, full-time role based in the Brighton area with flexible hybrid working options available. Key Responsibilities in Private Client Legal Services Manage a varied caseload of private client matters, including drafting and advising on wills, trusts, probate and estate administration, tax planning, and powers of attorney. Provide bespoke legal advice to a diverse client base, including individuals, families, business owners, and high-net-worth clients, ensuring their objectives and interests are fully represented. Conduct all aspects of estate administration, including applying for grants of probate, distributing assets, preparing estate accounts, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Advise on inheritance tax mitigation strategies, trust creation and management, and succession planning tailored to clients’ needs. Liaise with clients, beneficiaries, financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to coordinate effective estate and wealth management solutions. Ensure consistent compliance with SRA, AML, GDPR, and firm protocols, maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records within the case management system. Deliver clear and empathetic communication to clients, building rapport and trust throughout what can often be a sensitive process. Actively contribute to team knowledge-sharing, training, and the growth of the private client department. Essential Skills and Experience for Private Client Solicitors Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with recent experience handling private client work in a law firm setting. Solid technical knowledge of wills, probate, trusts, estate planning, powers of attorney, and inheritance tax matters. Strong analytical, drafting, and problem-solving capabilities with a meticulous and organised approach to caseload management. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear, approachable manner to clients and colleagues alike. Demonstrable commitment to delivering a high standard of client care and building long-term client relationships. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional, supportive team and a proactive approach to ongoing development. Digital literacy, including experience with legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications. STEP qualification or working towards is advantageous but not essential.
