Overview
Senior Clinical Pharmacist (Band 8a) - North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple. Part time 0.6 WTE (with opportunities for full time and part-time MO service roles). Based with the Medicines Optimisation team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. Applications welcome from individuals seeking progression (including Band 7 trainee pathway) to Band 8a following competency progression.
We are a compassionate, dynamic and committed team delivering medicines optimisation across inpatient and community mental health settings. Successful candidates will receive a full induction and ongoing support to develop clinical expertise and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical advice and support on complex medication-related matters to the multidisciplinary team and patients/carers/relatives for community services and inpatient wards.
* Develop knowledge and progress from Band 7 to the level of practice of a Senior Pharmacist (Band 8a) with increasing autonomy and responsibility.
* Contribute to shaping the future direction of the Medicines Optimisation service in Barnstaple and support service improvement and innovation.
* Deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred medicines optimisation services across inpatient and community mental health settings.
* Participate in induction, professional development, and training opportunities.

Qualifications
Essential
* Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Current General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration
* Pre-registration/trainee pharmacist program completed
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy/therapeutics or equivalent (Band 8a)
* Certificate/Diploma or Masters in Psychiatric Pharmacy practice or equivalent clinical experience (Band 8a)
* Independent Prescribing Qualification (or working towards it) (Band 8a)
Desirable
* Further qualifications in mental health or pharmacy practice as identified in personal development plan
* Knowledge of relevant health legislation; current issues in mental health and learning disability services
* Membership of relevant professional bodies and evidence of advanced practice
Experience
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
* Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and assistants
* Experience implementing change in complex environments
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with competing priorities

* Ability to interpret prescribing data and apply evidence-based medicine
