We are seeking passionate and committed Teachers of Complex Needs (PMLD, SLD & ASD) to join our dedicated teams in Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools across Scunthorpe from September 2025. These are full-time roles, ideal for individuals who excel in highly individualised education and who are confident in adapting the curriculum to meet the unique needs of every student.
What You'll Do:
As a Teacher of Complex Needs, you will be instrumental in:
Planning and delivering highly individualised, sensory-rich, and adapted lessons across various age ranges (3-19), focusing on communication, personal development, and engagement for students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Creating a structured, consistent, and emotionally supportive classroom environment that fosters safety, predictability, and joy.
Setting realistic yet high expectations for learning and engagement, using positive behaviour support strategies tailored to complex needs.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including teaching assistants, therapists (Speech & Language, Occupational, Physio), and external agencies, to promote holistic progress and well-being.
Monitoring, assessing, and celebrating every small step of student progress, often through bespoke assessment frameworks.
Engaging learners through creative, multi-sensory, hands-on, and relationship-led approaches that acknowledge varied communication methods.
What You'll Bring:
We're looking for an exceptional individual with:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
Proven experience in teaching students with PMLD, SLD, and/or ASD, demonstrating a deep understanding of their unique learning profiles and support requirements.
Excellent classroom and behaviour management techniques, with a strong emphasis on proactive and positive approaches for complex needs.
Exceptional resilience, emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships quickly with students, families, and colleagues.
