Service Care Solutions are working alongside a local authority in Walsall who are looking to recruit two dedicated and professional Lead Accountants to join their team on a temporary contract. Please find a description of the role below.
Role: Lead Accountant.
Rate: £300 to £400 per day.
Location: Walsall.
Contract: 6 months’ on going.
Working: Hybrid, 37 hours per week.
Role Overview:
* Lead financial risk management and reporting across services and projects.
* Deliver high-quality financial analysis and cost-benefit appraisals to support business cases.
* Assess the impact of new legislation and provide clear recommendations and action plans.
* Prepare briefing notes and reports for senior management, committees, and external partners.
* Advise services on compliance with financial procedures, contract rules, and accounting standards.
* Support performance monitoring, service transformation, and continuous improvement.
* Represent the finance function in cross-organisational meetings and regional partnerships.
* Deputise for senior finance leads as required.
* Strong financial analysis and business case development skills.
* Proven ability to interpret legislation and provide strategic advice.
* Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.
* Experience in local government finance and public sector compliance.
* Professional qualification (e.g., CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) desirable.
