About the role: Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you can. You will play a key role in drafting Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations, liaising with Technical Working Groups and producing a final document that becomes a new UK-wide environmental standard for industry.
Key responsibilities
* Draught BAT conclusions and related technical documents.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups to gather evidence and data.
* Present a final, UK-wide standard suitable for publication.
* Analyze technical arguments and data critically.
* Write clear, concise technical documents.
* Manage projects to meet delivery targets.
* Support incident management objectives and develop incident roles.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required, but we use smart tools to minimise travel.
Required experience and skills
* At least 5 years of experience in the LVIC industry and a solid understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation (including IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations).
* Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
* Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
* Knowledge of environmental legislation and policy in the UK.
* Capability to analyse technical arguments and data.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships.
* Strong project‑management skills and drive to complete.
* Flexibility to work with diverse teams across backgrounds and cultures.
