POSITION OVERVIEW
The Security Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the security team at Livingston Designer Outlet, ensuring the safety and security of visitors, tenants, staff, and property. This role requires an experienced security professional who can provide strong operational leadership, maintain high standards of security service delivery, and effectively coordinate all aspects of security operations across the retail complex.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, sound judgment in security matters, and the ability to manage a diverse team of security professionals including controllers, security officers, and car park attendants. This position demands a proactive approach to risk management, incident response, and continuous improvement of security operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Oversight
1. Supervise daily security operations to ensure effective coverage across the retail complex.
2. Monitor CCTV, access control, and alarm systems during shifts.
3. Conduct regular patrols and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
4. Support the Duty Manager in implementing security protocols.
Incident Response
5. Allocate staff for shifts and ensure proper handovers.
6. Provide on-the-job guidance and coaching to officers and attendants.
7. Monitor team performance and report concerns to the Duty Manager.
8. Assist with HR-related matters (, absence reporting, minor disciplinary issues).
9. Ensure staff compliance with site rules and procedures.
Compliance & Training Support
10. Ensure all team members maintain valid SIA licenses.
11. Assist with refresher training and competency checks as directed.
12. Maintain awareness of site-specific security procedures.
Communication & Reporting
13. Maintain clear communication between shifts and with the Duty Manager.
14. Record daily operational logs and report equipment issues.
15. Liaise with tenants and customers professionally when required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required:
16. Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard License (current and up-to-date)
17. Minimum 3 years' experience in security operations, preferably in retail or commercial environment
18. Minimum 2 years' supervisory or team leadership experience in security sector
19. Proven track record of managing security teams and operations
20. Strong understanding of Scottish security legislation and legal framework
21. Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practices
22. Experience with CCTV systems, access control, and security technology
23. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
24. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and security management systems
25. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and public holidays
26. Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
27. First Aid at Work certification
28. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification
29. SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) License
30. Conflict Management or Physical Intervention Training certification
31. Experience in Security management
32. Counter-terrorism awareness training
33. Experience with incident management and reporting systems
34. Knowledge of GDPR and data protection in security context

WORKING CONDITIONS
59. Standard working week of 44 hours with rotating shift patterns covering days, evenings, and weekends
60. Work includes weekends, public holidays, and occasional extended hours during peak periods
61. Role requires significant time on feet conducting patrols and supervising operations
62. Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions
63. May involve physical intervention in security situations and emergency response
64. On-call responsibilities for emergency situations and critical incidents
65. Work environment includes public areas, back-of-house facilities, car parks, and external perimeter
66. Exposure to challenging situations including dealing with difficult individuals and emergencies
