Consultant Histopathologist (Cardiothoracic)

We are seeking a committed Consultant Histopathologist with a specialist interest in Cardiothoracic pathology to join our experienced team at Wythenshawe. The cardiothoracic department leads a lung screening programme in Greater Manchester and offers ample opportunities for research and innovation.
Main duties of the job
You will join a team of 18 other substantive Consultants in the Histopathology Department.
* Provide subspecialised histopathology for clinical users across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, and local General Practices, including review of slides from other hospitals and participation in cancer MDT meetings.
* Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of allied health professionals and Specialty Trainees under HENW.
* Take responsibility for teaching allied health professionals, with review of SPA allocation for extra teaching duties.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MB ChB or equivalent.
* Full and specialised registration.
* FRCPath or equivalent.
* GMC registration or eligibility within six months of interview.
* MD, PhD, or other higher degree.
Teaching and Audit
* Experience of audit in cellular pathology.
* Teaching of junior medical staff.
* Certified clinical supervisor.
* Teaching of medical students.
* Experience supervising ST1 level trainees, including workplace-based assessment and MSF.
* Certified educational supervisor.
Academic Achievements and Research
* Publications in recognised pathological and clinical journals.
* Specialist interest in cellular pathology complementary to other consultants.
* Research projects related to the specialist area.
Interpersonal / Professional Skills
* Organisational skills.
* Involvement in service development and quality improvement processes.

Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata).
