Summary Job Title: Laboratory Manager Location: Dundee Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 Contract Type: Full-time, permanent Job Description Lab infrastructure set-up and maintenance:
Coordinate installment and maintenance of specialised equipment (sterile and chemical hoods, ultracentrifuges, freezers, etc), coordinate with external providers to organize estate services (gas delivery, waste disposal), calibration and use of day to day equipment, receiving and unpacking deliveries, equipment maintenance, organize gas and liquid nitrogen resupply, arranging appropriate storage and disposal of biological and chemical materials
Lab management:
Ensuring that work proceeds in accordance with applicable legislation (chemicals, biological material, fire hazard etc), coordinating equipment servicing, maintaining records, procurement and record keeping of consumables and stock, performing laboratory inductions, providing training, liaising with external service providers.
Establishment and management of LIMS Managing SOP and Quality Control:
Documentation of SOPs including purchase requisition systems, ensuring adequacy of record keeping, adherence to Health and Safety requirements
Experience and Qualifications
* BSc or MSc in Biomedical subject or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years operational lab management.
* Ability to draft, review, update and implement Standard Operating Procedure documents.
* Ability to access Laboratory Health and Safety requirements, including relevant guidelines and legal frameworks regulating biomedical work in the UK.
* Excellent communication skills required for lab inductions, coordination of lab member activities, and lab operation, as well as connecting with external providers.
