This role sits within the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team and focuses on leading procurement strategies to source materials and services cost-effectively and efficiently. You’ll manage supplier relationships, mitigate risk, and drive operational excellence. As a senior member of the Operations Team, your efforts will impact BD’s growth, competitiveness, and ability to deliver on customer expectations. The position offers opportunities to manage contract manufacturers, lead complex projects, optimize inventory management, and contribute to cross-functional integration for new and transferred business lines.
About You
* A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
* Minimum 5 years of professional procurement experience (strategic sourcing), ideally in the Pharmaceutical or Medtech sector. Experience in an operational/manufacturing environment is preferred.
* Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (MCIPS) or CPSM are preferred.
* Technical Skills: Contract Administration and Management, Commercial Contracting and Negotiation, Managing Supply Chain Risk, Inventory Management, Supplier Management, Knowledge of production processes, IT literacy (MS Office), and good knowledge of SAP.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop Procurement Strategies: Create cost-effective strategies for purchasing materials and services.
* Supplier/Stakeholder Management: Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, scout for new vendors, and manage purchasing interfaces with contract manufacturers and 2nd Tier suppliers.
* Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analyses, set benchmarks for improvement, and drive procurement/purchasing-based cost reduction to meet or exceed platform goals.
* Risk Management: Develop procedures to mitigate losses in case of product shortages or line stops and manage supply chain risk.
* Contract Manufacturer Management: Manage Contract Manufacturer purchasing activities based on agreed T&Cs.
* Project Management: Ensure procurement deliverables are met, manage project spend, and lead project reviews and reports to senior leadership.
* Integration Management: For new and transfer business, manage supply chain set-up with inventory transfers and drive the plan to timescales.
* Inventory Management: Ensure adequate buffer and safety stock to service unforecasted demand; manage excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory and carrying costs.
* Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data and produce reports on spending and savings.
Compensation
Compensation range for the role: £75,000 to £85,000.
