We are actively seeking a highly accomplished individual to lead our engineering department at our cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Colchester. Responsibilities
* Lead the engineering department and set the strategy for engineering across the site.
* Spearhead major capital investment projects and champion the integration of next-generation manufacturing technologies.
* Guide, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of engineers and technicians; foster collaboration, problem-solving, and professional growth.
* Drive the adoption of advanced automation, robotics, sophisticated control systems, and data-driven maintenance strategies.
* Deliver tangible results through improved uptime, enhanced product quality, reduced costs, and safer working conditions.
Benefits and Conditions
* Compensation: base salary £66,000 per annum, with a performance-related bonus and a comprehensive senior leadership benefits package.

Qualifications
* Proven leadership: extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in an Engineering Manager or equivalent senior technical leadership role in manufacturing or process industries.
* Operational excellence: track record of implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous improvement methodologies with measurable results.
* Technical authority: broad proficiency across mechanical, electrical, automation (PLC programming, HMI, SCADA), and industrial control systems.
* Project management: capable of managing complex engineering projects from concept to commissioning, including budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder management.
* Communication: able to articulate complex technical information and strategic visions clearly to diverse audiences from shop floor to executive level.
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics) is highly desirable; a Master's degree or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is advantageous.
