We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Clinical Team Leader to lead the Forensic Mental Health Community Team working across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust Secure Services form part of a wide and growing body of clinical services operating in a variety of settings linked to criminal justice services. The Secure and Forensic Services sit within the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Locality.

The FCMHT outreach service aims to bridge the gap between inpatient and community services, providing a smooth transition across the care pathway.

You will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the well-established therapy team which includes registered Senior Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Peer Support Workers. The Outreach team are embedded in the Norfolk and Suffolk FCMHT along with Psychiatrists, Mental Health Practitioners, Psychology staff, Social Workers, Assistant Practitioners/Senior Community Workers, and Physical Health Practitioners.

You will be line managed by the Allied Health Professions Lead for Great Yarmouth and Waveney and be part of ensuring excellent AHP provision in the Trust.

The FCMHT outreach team leads on the development and provision of occupation-focused aspects of team delivery, specialist occupational assessments, as well as support for, and supervision of, other members of the wider team.

The post holder be required to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team across both the community and inpatient setting where required. They will be required to locate themselves with the FCMHT staff across Ipswich and Norwich as required. The postholder requires specialist Occupational Therapy knowledge and to lead on risk assessment & risk management. They must work well with service users with complex mental health needs and a forensic/offending history, seeing the person first.

The team works within the framework of the Model of Human Occupation. utilising appropriate clinical tools that align with this approach, including occupational formulation. It is expected that the post holder will have considerable experience of working as an Occupational Therapist and bring their own skills to this role, to enable assessments and interventions to be tailored to the needs of the service users.
