About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and caring Domestic & Laundry Assistant to join our dedicated team at Deneside Court in Jarrow. This dual-role position is vital to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents.
You will support both housekeeping and laundry services, helping to ensure that residents enjoy high standards of cleanliness, comfort, dignity, and well-being every day.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, values high standards of hygiene, and understands the importance of domestic and laundry services within a care setting.
Purpose of the Role
* To support the effective operation of domestic and laundry services within the home
* To ensure residents' clothing, bedding, and linen are cleaned, maintained, and returned promptly
* To maintain residents' privacy, dignity, and respect at all times
* To uphold high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control
* To carry out duties in line with the home's policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
* To work in accordance with relevant Codes of Conduct
Key Responsibilities
Laundry Duties
* Washing, drying, ironing, and folding residents' clothing, bedding, and household linen
* Sorting laundry correctly, ensuring items are labelled and returned to the correct residents
* Safely operating laundry equipment and reporting any faults
* Handling soiled laundry in line with infection-control procedures
* Using laundry products correctly and economically
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-organised laundry area
Domestic Duties
* Cleaning residents' rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and offices to a high standard
* Following cleaning schedules and infection-control guidelines
* Using cleaning products safely and in line with COSHH regulations
* Ensuring all areas of the home remain welcoming, safe, and hygienic
General Responsibilities
* Taking responsibility for Health & Safety and reporting hazards promptly
* Reading and signing communication logs and following instructions as required
* Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
* Attending training, meetings, and development activities
* Reporting any concerns or unusual situations to management
* Remaining flexible and supporting the wider team when required
