Scottish March of the Day – Walking for a Cause

The Scottish March of the Day (SMOTD) is no ordinary walk. It’s a powerful fundraising event bringing together football, community spirit, and a shared mission to raise money for two incredible charities: the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

As a club Stenhousemuir is proud to support the event and be one of the stop locations. On Saturday 11th October walkers will walk from Falkirk to Stenhousemuir, aiming to arrive at Ochilview Park at approx 20:05 and departing about 10-15 mins later.

Over the course of one weekend (10-12 October), participants will journey across Scotland, passing by 22 football stadiums between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The event not only pays tribute to the nation’s footballing heritage but also unites people in support of those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The Route

The full 146-mile route will be completed over two days, split into 38 stages of roughly 4 miles each.

* A core team of 28 walkers (14 representing each Foundation) will take on the full distance in a continuous relay, walking day and night until the journey is complete.
* Alongside them, Open Walkers are invited to join in during the daytime stages, making this a truly inclusive event.

Daytime Stages Open to the Public:

* Friday – Motherwell to St Mirren
* Saturday – Partick Thistle to Stirling Albion
* Sunday – Dunfermline Athletic to Murrayfield

Open Walkers can register in teams of up to six, choosing one of the daytime sections to take part in.

How to Register

Registration is simple and open to everyone who wants to support the cause.

* Deadline: September 14 – to allow time for t-shirt orders.
* Team Registration: The lead walker will enter their team’s details, including:
o Contact information (email + mobile number).
o Chosen section of the route.
o Each walker’s name and t-shirt size (S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL).

After registering, the lead walker will receive full event details directly from Redwood Events.

This isn’t just a walk. It’s an opportunity to:

* Celebrate Scotland’s footballing landmarks.
* Support two charities making a vital difference in the fight against MND.
* Be part of a unique event that combines fitness, fundraising, and football pride.

Every step taken helps raise awareness and much-needed funds to support research and families affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

Spread the Word

If you’re taking part (or even if you just want to support the cause), share the message on social media and tag the event and charities:

* LinkedIn: Both charities can be tagged.

Together, we can turn miles into money for MND research and support.

Lace up your walking boots, gather your team, and be part of something unforgettable. The Scottish March of the Day is more than just a journey across football grounds—it’s a march of hope, solidarity, and determination.
