Job Overview
The role is for a senior quantity surveyor/commercial manager with experience running quantity surveying departments and aiding department growth. The individual will undertake relevant quantity surveying tasks, work with existing clients, and focus on business development to expand the department.
Responsibilities
* Set up files upon receipt of enquiries, electronically and paper.
* Produce pre‑contract tasks including take‑offs, bills of quantities, cost planning and contracts.
* Maintain archives and enquiry quotation register.
* Interface with all supply chain members, sourcing and tendering from enquiry to contract award.
* Chase supplier, subcontractor and manufacturer quotations.
* Maintain interaction with clients, contractors and subcontractors.
* Answer incoming telephones, take messages and manage emails.
* Carry out post‑contract roles, including valuations, variations, final accounts and project budget management.
* Provide required reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
* Engage in business development activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* At least five years’ experience in a similar quantity surveying role.
* Experience in all aspects of quantity surveying: pre and post contract duties, take‑offs, bills of quantities, cost planning, contracts, tender analysis, valuations, variation management, budget reporting and final accounts.
* Familiar with SMM7, NRM3 and major measurement methods.
* Conversant with major contract types such as JCT.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
* Team player in a small local consultancy; aspiring to director level.
* Strong communication, negotiation, time‑management, analytical, accurate, and organised skills.
