Working Hours and Conditions
Working Hours: 35 Hours per week. Contract Type: Full time / Permanent. Additional Payments: Essential car user allowance. Closing Date: 25 May 2026. Closing time: 11.59pm. Interview Method: Face to Face.
Key Responsibilities
* As a Team Manager within the Leaving Care Service, you will play a key leadership role in driving high-quality, trauma-informed practice and ensuring all statutory responsibilities are delivered effectively.
* You will lead and motivate a team of practitioners to provide excellent pathway planning, enabling young people to build independence, resilience, and confidence for their future.
* By fostering a skilled, reflective, and compassionate workforce, you will ensure the service consistently meets the diverse and complex needs of Manchester’s care leavers.
* Working in strong partnership with other services, agencies, and stakeholders, you will help shape and deliver coordinated support that improves life chances and reduces disadvantage.
* Your role will also be central to strengthening quality assurance, embedding continuous improvement, and ensuring that services remain responsive to feedback from young people.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Evidenced right to work in the UK before commencement of employment.
* Two references available, where possible a 3-year history.
* Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Medical clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA).
* Essential Car Documentation – Hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. Essential Car User Allowance will be provided.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as required.
* Strong professional knowledge and leadership experience within children’s social care, capable of managing complexity, safeguarding effectively, and driving high standards of practice.
* Experience providing supervision, guidance, and challenge to practitioners, enabling reflective practice and strong decision‑making.
* Fundamental understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, multi‑agency working, performance management, and quality assurance.
* Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills, as well as competence in IT systems and managing budgets.
* While not essential, experience of local authority Leaving Care services, inspection frameworks, service improvement, and partnership working across housing, education, and health would be advantageous.
* Commitment to championing young people, promoting equality and inclusion, and continuously improving services to achieve the best possible outcomes.
