This role also includes a company car and the successful candidate will need to take an enhanced DBS
Job Summary
We're looking for a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to join our Commercial Services team and help shape the next generation of construction professionals. You'll deliver English and maths training across our trade apprenticeship programmes, from Groundwork and Bricklaying to Site Carpentry and Supervision. This is a home-based role with regular travel, where you'll get to make a real difference in learners' lives and contribute to NHBC's mission of raising standards in house building.
What You'll Be Doing
* Deliver Functional Skills (English & maths) both in-person and remotely
* Support apprentices across 4 trade programmes: Bricklaying, Groundworking, Site Carpentry, and Construction Site Supervision
* Embed Functional Skills into wider learning content and sessions
* Track learner progress and support them with tailored interventions
* Coordinate and invigilate exams and assessments
* Develop engaging learning resources and maintain quality standards
* Ensure ESFA funding compliance and contribute to Ofsted readiness
* Collaborate with the team to share best practice and continuously improve provision
What We're Looking For
* Experience delivering Functional Skills in English and maths
* Confident teaching both online and face to face
* Strong interpersonal skills and a learner-first mindset
* Able to operate independently with strong ownership of time and tasks yet equally committed to supporting collective success through effective teamwork and communication.
* A full UK driving licence (and flexibility to travel when needed)
* Minimum Level 3 teaching qualification (e.g. AET)
* GCSEs at grade 5/B or above in English & maths
* Desirable if you've worked with construction learners before.
