As the next step of long term growth and to support our sustainability priorities, Bellway shall be opening a new, highly automated, Timber Frame Manufacturing facility located in Sutton in Ashfield.
This new Division, Bellway Home Space, shall become operational later this year and there is an exciting opportunity to join the initial team at our new state of the art facility. We are currently looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join the Division’s Finance team.

The Role
The role of Finance Assistant is to process and maintain accurate and up to date ledger. To maintain accurate and timely accounting records in order to provide relevant financial information to the business. To monitor and develop accounting controls procedures to ensure the assets of the business are appropriately maintained. To assist Head of Finance with maintenance and development of cost management reporting and cost control initiatives.
Principal accountabilities of the Finance Assistant role include:
Purchase Ledger
* Set up new vendors and complete mandatory checks
* Match and process invoices and staff expenses in line with company procedures.
* Raise supplier payments for approval
* Reconcile all supplier statements and resolve issues arising.
* GRNI tracking and minimisation
Sales Ledger
* Track and reconcile Goods In transit & create sales invoices as required
* Provide aged debtor reporting and effective credit control
* Raise supplier payments for approval
* Reconcile all supplier statements and resolve issues arising.
Fixed Assets
* Track capital projects and provide expenditure updates
* Ensure additions and disposal are approved in line with the accounting manual
* Create monthly depreciation journal and fixed asset schedules
General
* Manage the cashbook, perform bank reconciliations and create weekly cashflow forecasts.
* Reconcile intercompany accounts including Goods In Transit monthly.
* Assist with VAT & CIS Returns.
* Assist with month/year end procedures including journals, control accounts, management accounts preparation and submissions to Group.
* Assist with meeting reporting deadlines as defined in the accounting timetable.
* Assist with HR and payroll administration
* Administer and assist in reviewing stock counts
* Maintain up to date records for all operating/finance leases, ensuring that all agreements are paid when due and that VAT records are correctly maintained.
* Assist with overhead cost analysis and budget preparation, with the specific intention of identifying and delivering cost savings/reduction.
Role development/continuous improvement
* To always seek to identify improvements in working practices that lead to increased accuracy, time savings and additional benefit to the Business.
* Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of all job procedures.
* Undertake any other ad hoc finance assistance as necessary.
Environmental, Health and Safety
* To carry out work safely and in the interests of all employees in accordance with the EHS procedures manual and summarised in the EHS responsibilities matrix.
Measurables
Completion of all work to the highest standards of accuracy, to Bellway Home Space Finance manual, Auditor requirements and statutory obligations.
Achievement of accounting timetable
Status of supplier statement reconciliations.
Quality and presentation of output and accounting records.
Accuracy of cost coding and analysis
Orders/invoices processed in accordance with authorisation procedure.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge & Experience
Strong educational background, possibly studying towards an Accountancy Qualification
Previous bookkeeping experience essential.
Good IT skills, experienced in use of spreadsheets for data analysis, and an ability to interrogate and develop ERP system
Be methodical and with a diligent approach to working
Have good written and verbal communication skills, especially in liaison with non-financial managers
Be flexible with respect to working hours
Be organised to be able to cope with multiple tasks and priorities in a fast moving manufacturing environment and with a high commitment to quality standards.
