Job Description:
I am currently in the market for a Structural Design Delivery Lead to take ownership of structural engineering delivery across high-voltage substation and power infrastructure projects (11kV–132kV and above).
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You’ll lead structural design delivery from early-stage concepts through to construction handover—coordinating internal teams, managing sub-contractors, and being the key technical point of contact for clients and site teams.
What you’ll be doing:
* Leading the structural design function across multiple projects
* Managing interfaces between design teams, sub-contractors, and construction
* Overseeing design reviews, IDRs, HAZOPs, and compliance checks
* Driving constructability and practicality into designs
* Providing guidance on temporary works and ensuring safety and buildability
* Supporting site teams with design queries, inspections, and issue resolution
* Advising on civil/structural matters including land consents, CDM, and UK compliance
What I'm looking for:
* Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Chartered preferred)
* Experience in lead design roles for substations, power plants, or infrastructure projects
* Ability to manage multidisciplinary design coordination and sub-contractors
* Strong understanding of CDM, British Standards, and site delivery needs
* Effective communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders and representing engineering at a senior level
* Proficient in MS Office (Primavera P6 or CAD a bonus)
* Full UK driving licence
