About the role:
We are a close-knit team looking for a new member to join the Tewke family as we scale up the launch of our flagship product later this year. We seek a Backend Software Engineer to work closely with frontend and embedded software teams to improve and develop cloud-based backend infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
* Leading the design, implementation, and deployment of cloud services, APIs, and database systems
* Collaborating with Tewke’s frontend and embedded software teams to create reliable, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure
* Building and scaling a system supporting millions of customers
* Launching software products to an international audience
About you:
You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, eager to challenge yourself and push boundaries in consumer technology and IoT systems.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience as a backend software engineer, with expertise in building distributed, event-driven, scalable systems using technologies such as Typescript, MongoDB, and RabbitMQ. Comfort working in a dynamic environment with a broad technical stack is essential.
Must be able to work in our London (Southwark) office at least 3 days a week.
Minimum qualifications:
* BEng/MEng in Computer Science or similar
* At least 2 years experience with MongoDB
* At least 2 years experience with Node.js and Typescript
* Experience with C or C++ is desirable
* Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
* Experience deploying applications on AWS
* Experience with Python for data analysis
* Proficiency with version control systems like GitHub or GitLab
* Passion for software development and current technologies
* Ability to work independently, a must in a startup environment
* Experience with architecting, launching, and maintaining consumer-scale products
Nice to have:
* Experience integrating third-party APIs
* Experience in home automation
* Experience managing user data securely
