Job overview

We are recruiting for an Electrician Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for a technician with an electrical background and will conduct, with minimum supervision, maintenance and installation work on all facilities, plant, and equipment throughout East and North Herts NHS Teaching Trust.

They will provide reliable technical engineering advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, fabric, and utility services for the trust.

This role will involve an On Call rota of 1 in 5 weeks.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be diagnosing and repairing faults on Healthcare Building Services which includes the following equipment:
Hot water boilers, sterilizers, washer disinfectors, electrical distribution services, motors, heating and ventilating plant and controls, fire, nurse call and panic/intruder alarms, heating and ventilating plant and controls and carry out planned preventive maintenance tasks on the said equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering engineering spares, materials and equipment needed to undertake the works.

You will understand the working layout and operation of healthcare Building Services including engineering, plumbing and electrical systems on all the Trusts properties and instruct others on maintenance and inspection.

The post holder should be able to travel between various hospital sites. A mileage allowance will be paid for this facility if own vehicle is used.

You will also deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.

Person specification


Qualifications

* Approved Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or City Guilds Technicians Certificate, BTEC ONC or equivalent in relevant topics
* Current IEE 18th Edition
* Health and Safety qualification/ certification. E.g. (Risk assessment training)


Previous Experience

* Experience of working in a demanding environment with many, sometimes conflicting priorities
* Experience in electrical maintenance and repair
* Experience of working within a team and own initiative
* Knowledge of HTM 06.02


Skills

* High degree of accuracy and diligence.
* Has the ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Able to solve problems or pre-empt problems by employing appropriate measures and processes.
* Commitment to, and experience of, multi-professional working arrangements and projects


Knowledge

* Exceptional understanding of electrical maintenance and repair
* Exceptional understanding and working knowledge of technical specifications required for electrical maintenance and repair
* Exceptional understanding and working knowledge of health and safety standards for electrical maintenance and repair.
