Belcan has an exciting opportunity for a Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer to join the Wing Analysis Engineering team at Airbus Filton, on a contract basis.

To be considered, candidates must have the current right to work in the UK without sponsorship and a background that allows security clearance to BPSS level to be obtained.

Are you passionate about structural analysis and design? Are you interested in developing wing structures? Do you like connecting with people and different organisations?

If YES, then join a team of structural engineers who are a mixture of technical specialists and engineering leads, all passionate about finding technical solutions to support AIRBUS Wings.

This role offers flexibility to work on most of the AIRBUS Wing products; from incremental developments in single aisle and wide-body programmes, cost-saving measures, and continuous airworthiness modifications. You will be involved in all stages of the Product Development Plan (PDP), from feasibility studies, certification, to in-service aircraft.

The main tasks and responsibilities will include:

1. You will approve F&DT deliverables and lead the resolution of F&DT problems through the use of appropriate methods.
2. You will be responsible for the technical scope of assigned projects and tasks.
3. You will contribute to engineering solutions and ways of working borne from experience in aerospace, other industries, or research environments.
4. You will support the development of less experienced team members on both technical and behavioural aspects.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competencies:

1. You bring experience and know-how of structures engineering and analytical techniques.
2. You have good knowledge of overall aircraft structural design principles and techniques.
3. You will hold or be close to holding approval signatory in F&DT analysis.

Candidates need to be familiar with Airbus tools and ways of working—single aisle experience would be preferred, but wide-body experience is also considered.

You are able to step back and propose new ideas.

You have studied engineering and have a structural analysis background, particularly in fatigue and damage tolerance.

Standard 35 hours per week (working 4.5 days between 7 am - 7 pm, hours agreed at business discretion). Any overtime over 35 hours is paid at the standard rate.

Candidates must have the current right to work in the UK, without sponsorship.

This vacancy is being advertised by Belcan.
