We are looking for a passionate and committed conservation professional to help us meet our wildlife conservation aspirations for farmland in Nottinghamshire. Funded by Severn Trent Water, this is a key role in delivering our Nature Recovery Networks in Farmed Landscapes Project.

Overall Purpose of Job
To contribute to meeting our wildlife conservation aspirations in Nottinghamshire through leading our Nature Recovery Networks in Farmed Landscapes project, focusing on identifying farmers willing to undertake habitat creation projects on their land across six target areas in the County, working with them and other Conservation colleagues to deliver these habitats.
Main Responsibilities
* Identify potential project sites using existing data and contacts, and seek new farmer and landowner contacts in our target areas.
* Liaise with farmers and landowners to develop and cost project details for creating high-value habitats on farmed land.
* Work with colleagues and farmers to deliver projects and record outcomes.
* Manage reporting to the funder, including budget oversight and grants to farmers.
Job Specification
Line Management and Supervision:
* No direct staff responsibility but may supervise volunteers.
Responsibilities, Budgets, and Resources:
* Ensure compliance with funder requirements for this large (over £300K) project.
* Oversee project planning, budget management, quality assurance, communication, monitoring, and evaluation.
* Cost project sites ensuring alignment with budget and project goals.
* Follow current H&S practices and policies issued by NWT.
Work Complexity:
* Use ecological survey techniques and GIS mapping for habitat delivery.
* Create detailed, feasible project costings.
* Coordinate with contractors to ensure habitat quality and address issues promptly.
* Apply for permits and manage contracts.
Decision Making, Creativity, and Innovation:
* Identify optimal habitat creation locations and types with landowners and colleagues.
* Use ecological knowledge for habitat decisions.
* Engage farmers and landowners in conservation efforts.
People, Contacts, and Representation:
* Engage with colleagues, volunteers, farmers, landowners, contractors, and partners.
* Employ diplomacy and effective communication, especially with farmers.
Working Conditions:
* Part-time (3 days/week, 0.6 FTE)
* Fixed-term contract for maternity cover
* Based at Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre with regular travel across the County.
* Occasional evening/weekend work.
* Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Salary
£16,063 per annum plus pension and benefits (FTE equivalent of £26,772).
Hours
22.5 hours per week.
