Project Assistant (Economic Development ) - Mid East Antrim Borough Council - Ballymena
Join Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in Ballymena as a Project Assistant and support the delivery of key economic development initiatives across the Borough. Working closely with the Skills and Entrepreneurship Manager, you will assist in the implementation of programmes and actions that contribute to the Council’s strategic priority of growing the local economy.
About the role:
1. £20.29 per hour
2. 34 hours per week
3. Monday - Friday
4. Based in Ballymena
5. Temporary post initially until July 2026
What you'll be doing in this role:
6. Provide effective support to staff to deliver programmes, projects, and initiatives.
7. Conduct research on best practice, emerging issues, and policy developments to inform project delivery.
8. Assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering projects, managing workload to meet deadlines.
9. Support the application of consistent project standards, ensuring adherence to processes and guidelines.
10. Monitor compliance of third-party organisations, including site visits, to meet council and funder requirements.
11. Maintain accurate performance and financial records for audit and reporting purposes.
12. Assist in preparing funding claims to external bodies.
13. Carry out research on economic issues to support project development and share relevant insights.
What you'll need for this role:
14. A minimum of a third level qualification
15. At least one year’s experience in Economic Development, including supporting the development and delivery of economic development projects
16. At least one year’s experience working in partnership with a range of stakeholders to build effective relationships and deliver successful outcomes
17. At least one year’s experience in financial management, project monitoring, analysis and reporting
18. At least one year’s experience in research, including gathering and analysing statistical information
19. Strong knowledge of the economic development policy environment and the key local, regional and national economic challenges
20. Good understanding of business support initiatives available to support economic growth and development
21. A full current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or access to suitable transport to carry out the duties of the role
